North Korea fires missile over Japan in aggressive test –
North Korea carried out one of its most provocative missile tests in recent years early Aug. 29, hurling a ballistic missile directly over Japan that prompted the government in Tokyo to warn residents in its path to take cover.
 
Search still underway for service member missing after Army Black Hawk crash –
A U.S. service member remains missing three days after an Army Black Hawk helicopter crashed off the coast of Yemen, according to U.S. Central Command.

Eastern European allies eye fighter jet, helo procurements –
Russian intervention in Ukraine has provided increased impetus toward military modernization efforts in Eastern Europe. The region’s allies remain largely dependent on Soviet-designed aircraft, as demonstrated by the presence of Mikoyan MiG fighters in their air fleets, but a number of countries are in the process of procuring Western-made jets and helos to upgrade their air combat and transport capacities.
 
India to announce road map for single-engine fighter program –
To accelerate the Make in India initiative under the strategic partnership model, the ruling National Democratic Alliance will formally issue a request for information next month to Lockheed Martin of the U.S. and Saab of Sweden to manufacture single-engine fighters in collaboration with a private company in the India.
 
General Atomics’s MQ-9B SkyGuardian UAV has flown through U.S. national aerospace –
The SkyGuardian is an internal General Atomics project to develop a Predator-like drone that can be certified by civil authorities to fly in national airspace in regions such as Europe.
